From New York it is only a 3-1/2 hour flight, from Miami it's only 90 minutes to Puerto Plata International Airport and a 15 minute drive to Puerto Plata.
The Dominican Republic in the heart of the Caribbean, occupying two thirds of the island of Hispaniola, the other third is Haiti.
Discovered by Columbus in 1942, it has become the largest tourist destination in the Caribbean for North Americans and Europeans.
A combination of enchanting history, breathtaking mountains, spectacular beaches and azure waters, and the seductive beat of the Merengue makes this island and it's friendly population a vacation paradise.

"A" At the right end of the map is Plaza Turisol across the street from the Brugal Rum factory, in there are two good places to exchange money. "B" by the name of "Portifinos" it has clean rooms, bar fridge and cable TV, and a small pool for 300 pesos per night. "C" marks Long Beach. Around this corner are numerous bars and restaurants. "D" Latin Quarter a little older hotel but very comfortable. "E" Lormar, it is very nice again with bar fridge and cable TV. "G" is the Sunshine Hotel, nice but not one of my favorites because it's on the main raod and a little noisey, as is "H" the Hotel Condo. The "Malecon" is a 4 lane road which runs along the ocean from Long Beach which is to the right on the map, to Fort San Felipe at the left end. "F" is the best restaurant in Puerto Plata, it's called The Swiss Jardin."L" Le Babylon on Av. Circunvalacion is a bar that must be visited, it has a strip show at 11pm and 1am each night. "K" is the Mountain View, it has rooms and a large bar/disco on site with about 30 waitresses working there. Great place to visit and is packed nightly. "J" is a short time motel that is convient to all the nearby bars and discos. |
From downtown Puerto Plata on the right to Playa Corfresi.
In Corfresi "A" is the restaurant "Chris & Madys" an expraite Canadian Chris is the owner. "B" La Papillon is one of the best restaurants in the area. "C" is the Sensacion Cabanas/Hotel. "D" is a nice strip bar/disco by the name of la Prinicipi and next to it "E" is a disco named el Scape.
"G" is the bar/disco el Ferry. "H,J,K" are typical Dominican bars, loud music and cheap drinks open from 11am to 2am each night. The pharmacy Santa Thersa is location "L" and just down the street is "M" el Ranchero carwash/disco. |
